Hi Guys,
Am considering selling my DR650 and WR450f and getting an KTM 530exc.  Am just starting research and don't know a lot about them.  I know a lot of our members ride the KTMs.  I've been riding a long time and my riding style is mostly dirt on fireroads & single track in non-snow Truckee, then Moonrocks in winter when weather permits.  I do ride the road occasionally to work and back, or just putting around on a beautiful day.  I do, however, want to do some longer trips once a year or so (hence the DR650 as opposed to the DRZ 400 although based on my useage I think that my have been a mistake).  I also can't resist the occasional knarly hillclimb or technical singel track!    My questions are:
1.  Any significant developments or improvement based on year models?
2.  What is the deal on "Valve problems" I read about on some of the forums?
3.  Any Upgrades I should be looking for (ie: steering dampeners) and why?
4.  Any mods that are recommended and why?  Jetting, air box mods, exhaust, etc? ;
5.  Any common problems or maintenance nightmares (ie: have to drop the motor to adj valves or anthing wierd like that)?
6.  Anything else I didn't think to ask but should be aware of?
Thanks!
Paul

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's electrical.

Paul, stop by Reno KTM and they will surely fill you in on the 530 benefits.  Also, Dee will answer questions via email.

Hi Dean,

Yes, I'll stop in eventually, I'm just gathering info now.  If I actually walk into a dealership, I'll probably ride out!
